Arsenal football club has been in existence since the 1900’s. It is recorded that the football club began in 1886 from a team of factory workers who called themselves Dial Square, from the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory. The team went on to play their first competitive match against Newcastle United in 1893.

Since then the football club has grown to become on of the top and best teams in Europe. The team is particularly famous for a record they set between May 2003 and October 2004. They became the first team in the English Premier League to go 49 games unbeaten’ The Unbeaten Run’. A previous record was held by Nottingham Forest, but it was for 42 games unbeaten set in 1977-78. The dream team which made this run possible comprises of the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg, Jose Antonio Reyes, Dennis Bergkamp, Gilberto, Patrick Viera, Sylvian Wiltord, Jermaine Pennant, Edu, Cesc Fabregas, Kanu Nwankwo, amongst some great players.

In the 2016-2017 season, Arsenal failed to finish in the top 4 in the premier league. The club finished fifth and where also knocked out from the UEFA Champions league at the round of sixteen. The club started the premier league looking very good in terms of their form and also contenders for the premier league title when the season began, but half way through they lost from and where quickly outrun by the other top teams. This loss of form saw the club, for the first time since 1996, not make the UEFA Champions league qualification. Despite a truly dismal performance in the season, Arsenal won the FA Cup for the 13th time, making the club the highest FA Cup winners in England.

In the 2017-2018 season, Arsenal football club was a participator in the UEFA Europa League, the FA community shield, the FA cup and the Premier league. The club was out of the UEFA Champions league as they failed to finish in the top 4 in the Premier league from the previous 2016-2017 season. This was the first time for the club. The club also recorded an all-time shocking defeat when they lost to Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup were they are known for dominating. The 2017-18 season saw the club still manged by long-time manager Arsene Wenger and the club finished in 6th position on the premiership tables. Arsene Wenger retired from managing the club in April of 2018.

The 2018-2019 season saw Arsenal with a new head coach, Unai Emery. For the first time in 22 years, the club had a new coach following the retirement of manager Arsene Wenger. The club finished 5th in the previous season so where still out from participating in the UEFA Champions league. The season started off with a loss to reigning premier league winners Manchester City. Arsenal played 38 games that season, won 21 of their games played, lost 10 games, drew 7, finished the season in 5th position with 70 points in total, which qualified them for the Europa League group stage.

The football club in presently in the 2019-2020 season. Arsenal will be playing in the Premier league, the FA Cup, EFL Cup and the Europa League. The club is still manged by Unai Emery. This season the club has been faced with some internal challenges. First would be the transfer issue with the club captain Laurent Koscielny. The former Arsenal FC captain pushed for the termination of his contract after 9 years in the club. On these grounds he refused to travel for pre-season games, although he had one more year to go at the club. He lost the captainship because of this.

At the start of the season, Arsenal won their 2 matches played against Newcastle United(1-0). Next up was a match against Burnley where the team won(2-1) at home in the Emirates. This great start to the season was halted by a 3-1 loss at Anfield against Liverpool. The end of the month of August in the 2019-2020 season sees Arsenal at 3rd on the premier league table.

Progressing into the season, sees Arsenal drawing a North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in the month of September 2019. From a 2-0 down score line, Arsenal went on to a draw after goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. So, far the club has played a total of 4 matches in the current premier league season. Following the clubs performance so far, it is safe to stay the club has a good chance of finishing in the top 4 this season. This optimistic view of the clubs chances is also helped by some good transfer moves made by the club. The likes of David Luis a centre back , transferred from Chelsea, Nicolas Pepe, right winger from Lille, William Saliba transferred from Saint Etienne, Kieran Tierney from Celtic amongst other free transfers.

Presently by considering points, goal difference, goals scored, wins, losses, goal aggregate, Arsenal sits on the 5th position in the premier league. It is good to remember that the season has many months to go. There are other factors which would still come into play towards the determination of which teams will finish in the top 4. That been said, with the clubs present form and players, there are strong indications that the club would finish strong. Although, the club has had a history of not finishing at the top 4 in the past 4 years, the 2019-2020 premier league season looks to be the time when this record is reset. Most fans of the club remain optimistic of the odds of the club been in the top 4 with this crop of new and young players.
