Arsenal did the expected as they dispatched Slavia Prague 4-0 to storm into the semifinal of the Europa League and that makes these Arsenal player ratings an enjoyable one.
Mikel Arteta’s side has to win this trophy if they want to play in the Champions League next season and their performance in the game shows they are really serious about that.
It was overwhelmingly positive for all the players. Here is our rating for each of them.
Arsenal player ratings
Bernd Leno – 6
Watched the team dismantle their opponents for much of the game and had almost nothing to do.
Calum Chambers – 8
Superb from the start to finish and showed why he deserves to start over Hector Bellerin yet again.
Pablo Mari – 7
He more than justified his selection by putting in a solid performance.
Rob Holding – 8
He played as if his entire season depended on this game. Defended greatly and brilliantly.
Granit Xhaka – 7
He might not have the speed of a traditional left-back, but he did the job very well
Dani Ceballos – 7
Put in a solid shift in midfield. If he delivers this performance regularly, talks of a permanent transfer would start popping up.
Thomas Partey – 8
Looks well on his way to his best form and did all things great in this game.
Emile Smith Rowe – 8
This boy is such a beauty to behold. Didn’t let his disallowed goal affect him and provided an assist almost immediately. What a player!
Nicolas Pepe – 8
Took his goal well and delivered a solid performance for the team. He was almost unplayable to Slavia Prague’s defence.
Bukayo Saka – 8
We have come to expect so much from him, yet he was still superb in this game.
Alexandre Lacazette – 9
Is he playing for a new deal? Because he cannot stop scoring and if he had been in this form sooner, we probably would be in the top four.
Mohamed Elneny – 6
Brought on to help protect the win and did exactly that.
Eddie Nketiah – 6
Came on for the goalscorer and looked for a goal but didn’t find one.
Gabriel Martinelli – 6
Benched for Pepe and the Ivorian justified the decision. Almost added to the scoreline in the few minutes he played.
Cedric Soares – 6
Would feel he should have started at left-back, but he would also have been proud of Xhaka’s performance too.
Folarin Balogun – N/A
