Now is not the time for Arsenal to sell Granit Xhaka
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to keep Granit Xhaka at the Emirates and I am of the opinion that it would be the right choice for the two parties.
Xhaka has had a rollercoaster ride ever since his £35m move from Borussia Monchengladbach. However, he remains a crucial player to Arteta.
Arsenal is on the brink of turning their season around and will need all of the help they can get to progress up the standings.
The Swiss international did himself no favours earlier in the season when he fell out with the fans. But it seems that has been parked and those very same fans appear prepared to give him another chance.
That said, Xhaka is somebody who stands up when it matters, he is occasionally a liability and that is certainly frustrating. But he has the capability to have a significant influence on the reinvigorated midfield.
I believe, for certain, we will see a whole lot more coming from Xhaka under the tutelage of Arteta.
Xhaka is 27 and selling him now when he is fast approaching his peak does seem a little counterproductive. Arsenal has a player with a tremendous shot, that has leadership qualities and on his day can control the midfield.
We are starting to see the better Xhaka and now is not the time to be rocking the boat.
Put it this way, if Xhaka is sold there is absolutely no guarantee that a better player will be signed. No matter how much money is laid out.
