Mikel Arteta remains determined to bring in another Arsenal midfielder this month.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly not satisfied with his options in midfield and the Spaniard is looking to get another midfielder into his team this month.
This is coming even though he has managed to convince Granit Xhaka to ignore a move away.
Xhaka had fallen out with the club’s fans and he was subsequently stripped of the captain’s armband by Unai Emery. The Spaniard was then sacked and replaced by Arteta who assured Xhaka that he had a future under him.
The Swiss midfielder is one of Arsenal’s best performers since Arteta came on board, but The Athletic via Metro Sport is claiming that Arteta wants yet another presence in his centre of the park.
The report claims that Arteta doesn’t consider any Arsenal midfielder fast enough and wants another box to box player to inject more speed in the middle for them.
Arsenal has a limited budget this month and the club would prefer to not spend any cash until next summer.
Arteta knows of the budget condition but he is keen to get a few players before the window closes. A top-four finish remains the number one priority for the manager.
