It has emerged that Arsenal could make a shock bid for Chelsea star Frank Lampard either in January or the summer when his contract expires at the blues.

According to the Sunday People Arsene Wenger is looking for a ‘tried and trusted’ player to come in and help out the younger players like Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in their progression into the players that he expects them to become.

Lampard is out of contract at the end of the season after he has failed to negotiate new terms and is reportedly looking for a new challenge that this late stage in his career and though he would like a move out of England, the prospect of staying in London would appeal to him massively.

Lampard has been linked with a few possible destinations in recent weeks and the likes of LA Galaxy, Monaco, New York Red Bulls and QPR have all been mentioned to be interested in the star.

It would a crazy move for Wenger to even consider making a bid our London rivals and the idea that he could actually pay some kind of fee for the 34-year-ols star is not what we want to hear in anyway what so ever.

So though we like the idea of bringing more established players into the squad, we do not want a player that is past his best.
