The first thing that all Arsenal fans need to acknowledge is that the game on Sunday against Cardiff City will not be a walkover just because it is against a promoted side.
There are many reasons why it would be foolhardy to even begin to think in that way, here are just a few off the top of my head.
Arsenal has won just four of their last 20 Premier League away games, just four.
Last season Arsenal lost as many away games as relegated Swansea, 11.
Last season Arsenal FAILED to beat all three relegated teams away.
Last season Arsenal lost away from home against two of the three promoted teams.
Horrendous statistics right?
Another reason it would be madness to assume we are going to collect all three points on Sunday is that there is very little sign that we have improved on last season and jury is definitely out on whether Unai Emery is the right man for the job.
While ever we have Bellerin playing the way he is and Emery’s constant determination to play out of form Xhaka we remain vulnerable.
Then there is the insistence on playing from the keeper out no matter the situation, the issue with Ozil, the problem of the frontmen Aubameyang and Lacazette and can they play together and we have a very volatile situation.
If we play to the level of our abilities then yes we will win, but with the wrong formation and player issues that are evident for everyone to see then we are handicapping ourselves before the whistle is even blown.
Do I think we will win, yes I do, would I be surprised if we did not, no I would not and that alone is not how any Gunner should be feeling when playing against a team far inferior to us on paper.
