Mesut Ozil has been one of the most noticeable absentees from the Arsenal first team since the return of football.

In truth, since the German signed his new deal in 2018, he has hardly merited a place in the team.

Mikel Arteta gave him the chance to get back a spot in the team when the Spaniard was appointed as our manager at the end of last year, but Ozil hasn’t taken that chance and seems to have finished his career contributions at the Emirates.

Being the club’s highest-paid player, the German should be one of our best performers and first starters, but that hasn’t been the case with him missing all our games since the restart.

Ahead of our crunch match against Liverpool this Wednesday, it has been reported by Mail Sports that he would not be available again for the Gunners due to ‘back soreness’.

If he misses that game, it would be the sixth consecutive match that he has been unavailable for due to one issue or the other.

In his absence, the Gunners have been in fine form, earning some of the best results since the campaign restarted.

However, Mikel Arteta will hope that Mesut Ozil would leave his team this summer so that he can focus on players who have a contribution to make.
