Arsenal staff expected Unai Emery to have been sacked before Eintracht Frankfurt game.

It is not news that Unai Emery is on borrowed time at Arsenal. However, the fact that he has survived another week has come to many at the club as a surprise.

Emery had two weeks to prepare for a winnable Premier League game against Southampton at the weekend. But the former PSG boss couldn’t inspire his players to get all three points. They needed a last gasp equalizer to earn a point, in front of their fans.

Most fans were heard chanting “we want Emery out” in Saturday’s game, but the former Europa League-winning manager has survived yet another week.

Goal reports that Emery’s days at the Emirate are numbered and he could get the sack as early as next weekend if his team fails to get a result on Thursday and against Norwich at the weekend.

“It’s about results and we are not getting them,” a club source said.

“It just feels like a matter of time. It’s not like the club is on its knees or anything.

“The mood is still pretty good, but you are now just waiting to be told the news.”

Arsenal will reach the knockout stage of the Europa League in consecutive seasons under Emery should they get a point against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, but their league form will be the deciding factor if he is to keep his job or not.
