Arsenal has been dealt a major blow in their bid to land Martin Odegaard on a permanent transfer this summer.
The Gunners have had the Norwegian on loan since the start of this year and he has been delivering fine performances for the club.
His fine form for them has made keeping him at all cost the smartest thing to do.
However, there was no prior agreement that his loan deal can be extended or an agreed fee for his permanent transfer.
Arsenal intends to try to sign him again, even if it means another loan deal at the end of this campaign.
That plan has been dealt an enormous blow after Marca revealed that the midfielder is one of four players that the Spanish side considers untouchable.
They have plans to build their future teams around them. Odegaard is joined by Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde on that list.
This will be a major blow to Mikel Arteta’s plans for the future, as the Spaniard has enjoyed the talents of the former Real Sociedad loanee.
His return to Madrid last summer wasn’t fruitful and Arsenal will hope he asks them to allow him to stay with them for another campaign.
It will certainly be disappointing if we are unable to sign Martin Odegaard on a permenent basis.
