Unai Emery was once again in the spotlight after his Arsenal side failed to beat struggling Southampton at home this Saturday.

The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates and they are now 9th on the league table, and they have now made a worse start than they did last season.

The performance of the team left the fans unimpressed and several of them were booing the players after the game.

Fans were also heard chanting for the sacking of Emery with chants like ‘We want Emery out’ and ‘Sacked in the morning’

This wasn’t the first time fans have asked for his sacking and when he was asked about the calls for his sacking, Emery claimed that he can understand why the fans want him gone, and all he wants to do is to get the team playing better.

‘I understand the supporters are angry and frustrated. ‘The players are feeling the same and my job is to find out how to improve and the key is to be with the supporters. Our target was to win but also to play well and we didn’t do that.’

A brace of goals from Alexandre Lacazette was enough to help the Gunners avoid an embarrassing defeat in front of their fans.

Arsenal has backed their manager to turn things around, however, if they keep struggling to beat teams fighting to avoid relegation like Southampton, it will be difficult for Emery to keep his job.
